Title: HEALTH ACTIVITY MANAGER
Position in the Organization
Reports to (Hierarchical): Project Coordinator
Job Family:

Contract duration: 6 months (Sep.2020 – Feb. 2021), post to be filled ASAP
Post Location: Duhok with frequent travel to places of field activities and MAGNA places of work
Main Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, The Health Activities Manager is responsible for:
- Oversee implementation, supervision and management of Health activities/Services
- Pharmacy Management
- Team Management and Capacity Building
- Monitoring, Reporting and Analysis
- Health need assessment
Accountabilities
• Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the health and nutritional activities (PHC, NUT, MCH, HIV, SGBV, etc.), according to MAGNA protocols, standards and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.
• In close collaboration with other medical team members, identifying the needs of health support in the target population and participating in the definition, planning, organization and update of the appropriate MAGNA strategy and the health activities and its budget. Monitoring and evaluating health support activities.
• Planning and supervising, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, potential detection, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required.
• Ensuring an efficient pharmacy management and monitoring the rational use of them. Supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs. Preparing the health and nutritional orders needed to implement the health and nutritional activities under his/her responsibility, and identifying and reporting to the line manager, non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport, etc.)
• Ensure that needed drugs/equipment/consumables are available in the PHCC
• Propose solutions and prepare requests in case of expected shortages
• Ensure that Dohuk office’s pharmacy stock is managed according to MAGNA guidelines.
• Coordinating and ensuring that health activities (in and outside health facilities), with the clients are performed with regular follow-up in order to provide the most appropriate treatment for clients with health problems.
• Mapping and regularly updating the existing health services, including other INGO’s, local NGO’s, community groups and governmental health services, etc. and maintaining good and regular communication and collaboration with other components of the project according to objectives and context. Identifying possible advocacy issues and informing MC and PC before taking any action.
• Upon delegation from Project Coordinator, represent MAGNA as the health focal point and provide appropriate feed-back
• Checking all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up (individual card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, transfers ...) are carried out correctly and according to MAGNA procedures.
• Reviewing and developing the technical materials, tools, guidelines and documents, and coordinating and ensuring the implementation of all Health standard protocols and procedures set by MAGNA in order to provide the most appropriate treatment for patients.
• Participating in monthly reports according to guidelines (SitRep, statistical report, etc.) and reporting problematic situations and cases with the Project Coordinator to help with decision making and problem resolution.
• Provide analysis of morbidity and relevant programs indicators in a weekly/monthly report, detailing activities done, supervision, training given, assessments undertaken and all achieved activities
• Ensuring that patients coming to MAGNA facilities receive proper treatment [N1] medication and support either within an MAGNA program or thru referral to an appropriate resource.
• He/she shall conduct health needs assessments in order to identify opportunities to deploy further medical services in the region or reassess ongoing health activities.
Requirements
Education
Þ Medical doctor or paramedical degree.
Experience
Þ Essential 2 year working experience related to the diploma/degree and previous experience with NGOs in the field
Language
Þ Fluent in English, Arabic and Kurdish
[N1]Not part of the current services as per Iraq Health Service Package. Psychotropic are only prescribed by Psychiatrist or trained GP on Mh Gap ‘only few items” which is not the case with most MDs
